What are theses sessions all about?
Over the course of 4 afternoons, Jan will take you through the essential steps of furniture making, from design to final assembly.
"The Stool" is a complete, and compact, furniture making course that will arm participants with an array of powerful techniques scalable to many kinds of furniture builds and designs.
The four sessions take place on:
A quick overview of tools and techniques used:
OSB, MDF, particle board, triplex, multiplex and massive wood (hardwood and softwood)
Expansion and shrinking of wood and the consequences on furniture design
From trunk to furniture in 10 steps
The mitre saw
The table saw
Avoidance of tear-out
Jointer and thickness planer
Glue-up to make boards
The use of sanding paper and the orbital sander
The use of chisels and sharpening
Mortise and tenon connections
Using the band saw
Using the router
Using the belt sander
€250: this covers material and instructor cost for 4 sessions of 4 hours.

Prior knowledge required?
Experience is not necessary, but we recommend completing our courses on the woodworking machinery beforehand. All material is provided.
