What is this session all about?

You learn the basics to shape and work metal. Thanks to these techniques, you are well prepared to start the heavier work, such as welding.

Concretely, the course covers:

  • Cleaning metal

  • Derusting

  • Marking out - square / 45°

  • Cutting

  • Grinding

  • Polishing

  • Tapping holes

  • Threading stock

  • Rivets and bolts

  • Preparing metal for welding

  • Using the cut off grinder and the horizontal band saw

  • Using the stationary belt sander

  • Using the sheet metal brake for bending and forming metal

  • Angle grinders for cutting, grinding and polishing

  • Handfiling

  • Deburring

Before moving on to Metalworking #2, in which you’ll learn how to weld, you need to have followed this course.

Prior knowledge required?

No experience necessary. All material needed is provided. All safety equipment is provided as well, but wear sensible clothing. Closed toe shoes are essential.
